Their entire team was knowledgeable, caring, and always available. We felt like we were in the best possible hands. Our adoption specialist, Melanie, provided unwavering support throughout the entire process.The staff worked together to make the adoption process as smooth as possible. They created a safe and nurturing environment for both the birth mother and us, the adoptive parents. Their expertise and empathy were unmatched, and their attention to detail and efficiency were impressive. We are so grateful for their guidance and support over the years and through multiple adoptions to build our family. We wholeheartedly recommend American Adoptions to anyone looking for support on your adoption journey.

Normally Im not big on doing reviews, but after talking to our adoption specialist I felt it was necessary to share a review in case anyone is considering an adoption through American Adoptions. I will start by saying adoption in general regardless of the agency you use is by far one of the most stressful, challenging, and difficult things you will ever do. We have used American Adoptions for two adoptions and looking back we are so happy we did. No matter how much research you do, online groups you belong to, and mental preparation you do, nothing will really prepare you for the real thing. American Adoptions is the real deal, you will pay more, because you are dealing with the best agency out there. Our adoption specialist Lara went above and beyond, through the highs and the lows she was always a resource to talk to and a voice of reason when emotions were off the charts. I cannot tell you how many times we talked to her from step one of making a profile all the way to finalization, she was always there for us, sharing thoughts and experiences because she has been doing it for a long time and knows exactly what she was talking about. There is no guess work, you will always have a friendly professional, who is passionate about what they do, and will work with you every step of the way. When you do get matched, that same specialist will work with other local specialists to make sure things run as smoothly as possible though all the stressful times. The agency also does a lot to help the birth mom beyond finalization, which is a huge plus, because as stressful as it is for the adoptive family in many cases it seems even more stressful for the birth mom. We feel like through our adoptive journeys we experienced just about every possible situation, both good and bad, through it all we never felt alone or lost because of the wonderful team we were working with. Again I will reiterate, it is stressful, it is expensive, and it is most likely one of the most emotional things you will do in your lifetime. If there ever was a time you want the best of the best, this is that time, and American Adoptions is the agency you want to work with. We have never met our adoption specialist in person, but even to this day we consider her family and are thankful for everything she did to help us along the way with our little girls.

We started our adoption journey in late 2020 with American Adoptions, and were extremely happy with the process and our experience working with them! Their staff was amazing and very helpful to guide us through the adoption of our daughter in April 2021. The staff communicated very well with us and were always available to answer any questions that we had along the way. We are thinking about going through the adoption process again, and will be reaching out to American Adoptions in the future!

We went through American Adoptions twice for the adoption of our daughters. Our first adoption was very fast and hectic, and they were great walking us through all the steps and helping us to not panic. They helped us navigate the relationship with our daughters biological mother, and the resources they provided (social worker, lawyer, etc) were all so great to work with.Our 2nd adoption was through their Texas operations and they provided us a lot of support with that as well, as Texas has specific laws and requirements that were different than our first experience. It was overwhelming but they were always available to provide information and step by step instructions when I needed it.Our adoption journey is complete but I still wouldnt hesitate to recommend them if you are looking to adopt.

We have had a roller coaster of emotions with American Adoptions. They have been there from the highest highs to the lowest lows. But.... the best and most important thing is we were able to become parent because of American Adoptions! I can still keep in touch with them and reach out to them if I have any questions. They are the best!!

They (Emily) were amazing during this whole process! they made my life a lot less stressful during a very chaotic situation in my life! not only was she amazing in handling all paperwork and adoption process for me she actually cared emotionally for me and reached out to make sure i was actually doing ok after the adoption! i would recommend them over and over again!

We had a great experience with American Adoptions. Everyone we worked with made themselves available to answer any and all questions. They helped walk us through everything so we were prepared every step of the way. We are getting ready to celebrate our daughter’s 6th birthday this month!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with American Adoptions. To begin with, as an LGBT+ couple, we were fully welcomed by this agency, and never once felt like we were being treated differently or less than any other couple/individual. The onboarding process Ill call it was thorough, informative, and well designed. The checklists for each stage of the journey were well defined, laid out nicely, and easy to understand and keep track of. As with any adoption, there is *a lot* of paperwork to do and keep track of, and the staff at American Adoptions was always available to help us out and explain what needed to still be completed. Our adoption specialist, Lara, is a gem. She was always communicative, very straight forward about the process and what to expect, for both the good and the bad, and she was always just so very kind. There were a few times she had to go to bat for us to get things done, and when she did, we never had to wait long afterward! The work the agency does with the video and brochure to help market and advertise you to prospective birth families was so incredibly well done. They really do the best work at making sure you have your best foot forward. Additionally, the support they provide during the waiting period, and throughout the duration of your birth mothers pregnancy and beyond was so helpful as well. Again, setting reasonable expectations and advice on how to handle certain situations was a huge relief for us. We only had to wait 5 weeks before being match, which IS NOT THE NORM, but it was our personal experience, and Lara definitely helped us through the whirlwind of it all. Must also give a shout out to our birth mothers specialist, Nicolette, who I know did just as much for our birth mom as Lara did for us. While the price tag for American Adoptions may be a bit higher than other smaller or regional agencies, from our experience, the support, education, and experience was more than worth it every time we look at our daughter. Could not recommend them enough!

I love this adoption agency!! I got pregnant in May of last year and I didnt know what I wanted to do but I soon realized that it would be selfish of me to keep my boy knowing he would have a better life with a couple who are ready to have one. It was the hardest thing but Carly Bagnieska was there from American Adoptions and made things simple and easy. I was scared about a lot of things but Carly was always there to listen to my concerns. Its been almost a two weeks since he got placed with the most amazing and loving people I could ever ask for and I feel like I wasnt judged and that I knew these 2 ppl forever. Im so thankful and very blessed with the agency and their attorneys and the family. Thank you American Adoption 😘 ☺️ 🙏 💙

Going through the adoption process can be a difficult and emotional journey. Melanie and the team we worked with at American Adoptions helped guide us through this journey and made our dreams come true. They are thorough with the process, helping to educate us on the complexities of adopting a child. We received access to training, help to create a profile, and guidance on what to expect before being selected. We were paired with the most fantastic birth mother. While we welcomed our son to our family, we also welcomed his birth mother. Having an open adoption has been outstanding for our family. We could not have done it without American Adoptions.

Our family had a positive experience adopting our son through American Adoptions and will use them as an agency if we pursue private infant adoption again in the future. Any and all staff interactions and information through the process were respectful, clear, and helpful. Most importantly, the birth parents of our son expressed that American Adoptions treated them with great dignity during their challenging decisions. We felt supported every step of the way.

We had such a wonderful experience with American Adoptions. During regular business hours there was always someone that answered the phone. When we evaluated other agencies we did not find that to be the case elsewhere. Our overall process from Active to Matched was 6 months. Both the Adoptive Parent Specialist and Birth Mom Specialist were very helpful, especially coordinating everything during the height of the pandemic when hospital regulations were changing rapidly. They allowed us to develop a direct relationship with our daughters Birth Mom during the process. It helped to make everything very smooth once we arrived at the hospital. We highly recommend using American Adoptions.

Ive gone back and forth with what to write here, mostly because Im still dealing with all the emotions that obviously come up in this situation, and writing about it has proven to be more difficult then I thought it would be.Heres whats important: they were understanding, helpful, non-judgmental, friendly, and let me make the decisions I wanted. They made the whole process as gentle (I think thats the right word) as possible and they took as much of the stress of the situation off my shoulders as possible.Best of all, Im still able to watch my daughter grow up.

Our experience with American Adoptions has been nothing short of exceptional. My husband and I adopted our son at the end of 2021, but our journey with them began almost three years prior. The staff are amazing—everyone we have worked with has been incredibly professional, knowledgeable, caring, respectful and empathetic. We felt so supported throughout the entire process. Our adoptive family specialist was on the phone with us at 3am when we were experiencing our first disruption at the hospital, she was on the phone with us over a holiday weekend when an expectant mom we were matched with started expressing reservations about her adoption plan, she and the birth parent specialist were both on the phone with us all weekend when that match ultimately disrupted at the hospital, as well. We are so thankful for the risk-sharing program/disruption insurance, as it allowed us to proceed with our adoption journey after each disruption without having to pause to recover any financial losses. And once we had our son, it was such a relief to know that the paperwork/legal aspects of the adoption were being handled by American Adoptions and we could just enjoy being new parents. We would recommend American Adoptions without reservations and would work with them again in a heartbeat!

Our experience with American Adoptions was excellent. My wife and I adopted our two girls through American and found the staff to be supportive, well-prepared, and thoroughly enjoyable when engaging with us. They made a nerve-wracking time for prospective adoptive parents much easier to get through and from talking with the birth parents of our girls, it seems American Adoptions is equally supportive trying to ensure everyone involved reaches the best outcomes possible.

My husband and I adopted through American Adoptions last year (Nov. 2017), and we had a very positive experience with them! Yes, they are pricier than some other agencies we interviewed, but we were so drawn to how professional, thorough, detailed, and AVAILABLE they are! We also knew that we wanted to choose an agency with Disruption Insurance. We ended up having a unique disruption situation, which was devastating for our family, but it was handled by American Adoptions with such gentleness and care (and respect for all parties involved). We were so thankful for the way that situation was handled! We were also thankful that we did not lose the money that we had invested in that first match. Our first match happened about 2 months after we activated. That match fell through, but we reactivated and were matched again within 2 weeks, and had about a month to prepare to meet our son!Some other things that we loved about American Adoptions: the way that they talk about and interact with birth moms is very respectful, dignifying, and loving. It seemed to us that the birth mom was as important as my husband and I in the adoption process, that we LOVED that. It was our deepest hope that she would be supported and cared for….by us, but also by the agency, and we really felt that AA had the birth mom’s best interests at heart. We also loved how up front they are about adoption budgets, family profiles, etc. While the numbers and facts can be overwhelming, we didn’t feel like there were any hidden surprises or tough issues that weren’t talked about, and we appreciated that so much.Everyone we interacted with was kind, professional, and knowledgeable. We would recommend this agency without reservation!!

My husband and I worked with American Adoptions to facilitate our adoption journey, and we couldnt be more happy with our experience. We worked with the agency for the majority of 2020.As a same-sex couple, engaging in the adoption process can be intimidating, as we learned that many agencies refuse to work with same-sex couples for placement or will say they work with same-sex couples but only through the home study phase. American Adoptions and everyone from their staff that we worked with always made us feel comfortable and supported.Our adoption journey also ran into a huge road block with the pandemic taking hold shortly after we started. American Adoptions helped us continue through the process despite the difficulties the pandemic presented, and kept us well informed about changing COVID protocols as we prepared to travel to the hospital for our sons birth. This is a testament to their flexibility and willingness to support adoptive families.Overall, we appreciated the level of communication, transparency, and support we received throughout the entire process and in the months that followed placement.

We expanded our family through American Adoptions in 2015. Our son is now two and we could not have been more pleased with our experience. We had three biological children and knew we would always adopt as well. American Adoptions was so helpful throughout the entire process, from beginning and even until today. The counseling and preparation they provided for both the birth mom and adoptive family is amazing. We know we could not have done this whole process without them. We are very thankful they completed our family and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. I recommend them to friends who are beginning the adoption process time and time again.

I would love to say they have helped me feel so welcomed and loved like I was part of their family. I came to them very late because I was scared of what my parents and grandparents would think. I was 7 months pregnant at the time and I got to be part of every step of the way. They really cared and Carly did an amazing job of making sure I knew I had support. They made sure that I was doing okay physically and mentally. I got to tell them what type of family I wanted for my baby and got to pick and talk to them as well and get to know them before the final moment of my baby coming to the world. My labor was so unexpected, and they lived 12 hours away and the adoptive mom got on a plane and got here so quick. She was so caring and treated me as her own family as well. If you are having droughts and want to keep it in the end, they do give you that option. you do get to choose how you want it to go in the hospital that is best for you. I chose not to have the first hold of the baby and wanted the adoptive mom to so the baby could bond with her. They did amazing.

Worked with American when adopting both our kids. Staff was helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Both experiences were very positive. Staff helped us navigate some of the challenges that arose, as they will during adoption process. A great agency!

American Adoptions is the absolute BEST! They always make sure you are comfortable and they take the time to explain everything to you, so you know exactly what your options are! I have went through them with 2 pregnancies and found an amazing couple for my sons! ❤️ Carly is an amazing woman and she has always validated my feelings and always brought me up when I was feeling down! We adopted through American Adoptions and had a wonderful experience! They were so easy to work with. They coached us through the entire process, and everything went very smoothly. We chose them because they are one of the largest agencies, give great emotional support to the birth mothers, and the match time was short compared to other agencies. We highly recommend. We love our daughter so much and cant imagine life without her!

I worked with American Adoptions this year, specifically Carly from the Overland Park, Kansas branch, and I would highly recommend this agency to anyone on either side of the adoption process. Carly is one of the sweetest people Ive ever encountered, extremely supportive and not judgmental of the situation I was in. Throughout the process of the adoption, I was provided tons of resources to help guide me through each step. Most importantly, they made sure to stress that everything was my choice. For example, it was fully up to me whether or not I wanted to choose the adoptive parents or wanted contact with them. Nobody was trying to force their ideas on me, everything was about what I thought was best for me and the baby. They are a fantastic agency, and I couldnt have asked for someone better to work with and help guide me through this journey!

Working with American Adoptions was a great experience for my wife and I. Going through this whole process was very stressful and their staff were very welcoming and always there to comfort us and assure us that we would be parents before we know it. We adopted our three boys with the help of American Adoptions. Each of the three adoptions were so unique, but American Adoptions was always by our side throughout the process. The love and care they show for the child, birth mom and adoptive parents is amazing! We feel so blessed to have used American Adoption and would definitely recommend them.

Adoption is absolutely beautiful and filled with joy but also has moments that can be tough and difficult emotionally.In 2016 we were ready to pursue adoption, as it had always been on our hearts. As a prior labor and delivery nurse, I had heard of American Adoptions, felt comfortable with them and was looking for a larger agency that was national and not just local. It also helped that their office is just 15 min away from us. Another huge plus was their disruption “insurance” which helps recover costs in the event of a disruption.Our experience was so amazing in 2016 that we followed up with a second adoption in 2018 and a third last month. Throughout every step of the way (during AND after all 3 adoptions) we felt supported and heard. We felt that Dacia (our adoptive family specialist) always kept us informed, was honest with us, encouraged us and cheered us on (even when we were discouraged with our wait). It is clear that this is her calling. She is an expert at what she does, pays attention to every small detail and offers the best support.From an adoptive family viewpoint - it seems to us as well that their birth parent specialists are on it. They have plenty of communication with the expectant parents and are always there to advocate and support them.Dacia, each one of our birth parent specialists and everyone in between works tirelessly to make everything as smooth as possible. Without their encouragement I’m sure we would have wanted to give up (because our longer wait than what we were previously used to pre-Covid). We are so grateful that we didn’t give up and we now have three beautiful kiddos. What an honor it is to have this gift to watch these babies grow.

Adoption is complex. American Adoptions did a phenomenal job of walking us through the process, matching us with our sons birth mother, and made sure everything went smoothly. Its an emotionally fraught and legally involved process, but as an adopting family I felt we were in great hands throughout, and I have been happy to see the support services they offered our sons birth parents have been strong as well. Even amidst the rising pandemic, they worked hard to make everything come together, and behind the scenes are still working for us to make sure things are perfectly finalized, that the birth-parents receive counseling and support, and that things are still going smoothly between us and the birth-parents. We have been very happy with their services.

My husband and I used American Adoptions to adopt our daughter in 2017. We cannot say enough good things about this adoption agency! Everyone we interacted with was caring, understanding and informative. They all truly wanted to find the best match for us and our daughters birth parents. From the time we first contacted American Adoptions to holding our daughter in our arms was only 5 months. They walked us through each step of the process and all our emails and phone calls were answered within hours of sending them. However, if you are struggling with the financial costs of adoption, this agency may not be for you. Adopting through them is expensive, partly because they are advertising all over the US so you are paying to get your profile out to lots of birth moms. For us, it was more than worth it and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Our daughter will be one in a couple weeks and we cant imagine life without her. If you can afford it, American Adoptions is definitely the agency to choose.

My husband and I had an amazing experience with American Adoptions. It took just under 2 months to get set up on their website, and just over 3 months to get matched with our baby girl. Throughout the process they were warm and receptive to our questions, honest with their feedback and input, and very transparent and upfront. We felt extremely supported once we were matched, when interacting with birth parents, and navigating all the emotions and obstacles that come with adopting in general. A lot of people in our area have used American Adoptions and rave about their experience. If you are looking to adopt, we would most certainly recommend checking out this agency. Good luck!!

My husband and I adopted in April 2019. From our first encounter with American, we knew it was the agency for us. Each person we worked with had the highest level of professionalism, knowledge, and care. Every question we ever had was answered to the fullest. They are a full service agency. From prospective adoptive parents to expectant mothers. Not only will you receive the highest service, but all expectant/birth mothers do as well. There is so much stress with adoption. So many things we worried about. It was so wonderful that we didn’t have to worry about the “paperwork” or legal aspects of our adoption, because we knew American had it covered. It was so reassuring throughout the entire process. We continue to work with American as we prepare to finalize our adoption. We are lucky to have them on our team. We cannot say enough good things about American Adoptions. We would recommend them 100x over again and would give them 10 stars if possible!

American Adoptions was the best agency we worked with. They were professional in every sense of the word but were also compassionate and understanding when we were anxious. They are worth every cent that we invested in helping us have our baby, who means everything to us. We would definitely use them for a second adoption. We also recommended them to our friends. I have soooo much to say but Im going to try to keep it short and sweet...My journey with American Adoptions was absolutely amazing and beyond what I couldve ever imagined. Jenna was my counselor and she did the best job of ALWAYS making me feel comfortable and supported throughout my entire pregnancy, and even after... She was always just a phone call or text away, no matter what I needed. This time can feel very lonely and scary for most of us and Jennas support made a huge positive impact on me every day. When I first contacted the agency, I honestly had no idea how open adoption worked. I asked SO many questions and felt very needy...but they helped me learn about, navigate through, and trust this process- without any judgement or pressure. I was always reminded that this is my journey, and that they support any decision I make... it made me feel really good. I followed through with my decision and matched with the most genuinely spectacular family to raise my son, and I would not have it any other way. His smile says it all. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every one at American Adoptions who was a part of my journey... Thank you for supporting me during the hardest, but also the most beautiful time of my life.

My wife and I had an excellent experience adopting our son through American Adoptions! We worked closely with a couple of great specialists who were available to us at all hours of the day and night (which was great since we live 2 time zones away from the office). The agency was nothing short of professional, kind, and I could tell through talking with our specialists on the phone and emailing them that they really cared about both us as adoptive parents and the birth mothers on the other side of the process. They truly worked hard to help us navigate through any difficulties we encountered and we are truly grateful to have been able to work with this agency. They care about the families they are helping and it shows!

Words can not express how positive our experience with American Adoptions has been. They made what could have been so stressful and overwhelming to an incredibly positive and memorable experience. From the very beginning, with every step they simplified each part of the process and made it feel fun. We loved filming footage for our video and answering the questions for the birth moms.It took us 8 months from the day I turned in our application to the day our healthy twin newborns were being placed in our arms. (and when we started we hadnt even begun home study) Once our home study paperwork was approved, we went active on a Tuesday and by the following Monday we received a call saying a birth mom had chosen us and that our babies were at a NICU waiting to go home!

I can’t say enough good things about American Adoptions and the professionals that work there. The thing I found most important is that they were concerned with all sides of the Adoption triad. American doesn’t just look out for what is best for hopeful adoptive parents, but also for the expectant mothers and babies. They were extremely helpful through the entire process of setting up our profile, through finalization. They answered any questions we had very quickly. Any time I sent an email I had an answer back within 24-48 hours. Quite frankly I was shocked by how on the ball the staff was and how personable everyone seemed to be! Once we went active, we were matched fairly quickly (only 3 months in), a match that ultimately failed, by no fault of theirs, but I will say I was beyond impressed by how American helped us work through that experience. They made sure to have counselors available to us 24 hours a day to help us to work through those difficult emotions, and they were amazing in the support they offered! Once we were ready to go active again, we were quickly matched with a beautiful baby boy! We left to get our son the day we found out about him ! It was a whirlwind of logistics, paperwork, emotions, you name it…but American again was there for every single step! Both for us AND for our son’s birth mother! She needed assistance to work through the loss that she has understandably felt and American was there to help her with that. Any time we needed advice on how to communicate with our son’s birth mom, all we have to do is call the counselors at American and they are ready and willing to help us. I’ve never felt like I’m taking up to much of their time or that they don’t truly want to assist us. Our experience with American has been nothing short of amazing! I can tell that the entire staff is invested in what they do and love their jobs. If we get the opportunity to adopt again, we’d only trust American Adoptions with the important job of getting it right. We’re so extremely grateful for the professional, ethical, caring service they provide! We love them and all the staff that work there…(as if you couldn’t tell!)

We chose American Adoptions as our placing agency after doing a home study with a small local agency. We made this decision in large part because they were among the largest nationwide adoption agencies, emphasized openness and birth parent support in their materials, and found their average wait times to be among the shortest of agencies that we had considered.I will highlight a few aspects in detail, but the general takeaway is that our adoption experience was overwhelmingly positive.In a variety of ways, Americans strength is in its size. They operate out of most US States and thus appear able to provide more adoption opportunities than smaller agencies. I would guess that their size has also led to the standardization of their procedures. Their online materials, although requiring a significant commitment of thought, time, and attention on the part of the prospective adoptive parent, provide exhaustive information and guidance about the adoption process and a wide variety of related issues (e.g. openness vs. closedness of adoptions, relationships with birth parents, issues around the impact of adoption on each member of the triad, prenatal exposure etc.)Similarly, in our interactions with admin staff and also our worker, Emily, we were consistently given a clear description of what was happening at each stage of the process, what to expect next, and the implications of choices we made. In sum, as much as the adoption process is one rife with uncertainty, there seemed to be regular attempts to mitigate this.Like most big agencies, we were required to self-produce a video (that they professionally edited) and a lot of written material and images as a way to introduce ourselves to prospective birth parents. As much as this process often feels uncomfortable, we were happy with the resulting media, which ended up both feeling well-made and professional but also genuine in capturing us as people.Because so much of the adoption experience is the waiting, there were periods where we didnt hear much from Emily. She was really up front about this and also willing to check in with us more if we wanted. We ended up seeking out local support groups for waiting families during the period (which Id recommend). Our wait from activation to match was about six months, but this is markedly less than their average and certainly less than I am hearing from other folks who have recently adopted or are still waiting. I think this relatively short time is probably an exception rather than a rule, especially in 2022.When we did match and accept our opportunity Emily and the birth parent specialist sprung into action and were available essentially 24 hours a day if we needed them. They were amazingly professional and effective, but also amazingly kind. Our sons birth mother chose us very late in her pregnancy, so we kind of had to drop everything in our lives and hop on a plane and go. Emily was so reassuring and centering, gently explaining what would happen and helping us to manage the anxiety of such a sudden and dramatic life change. She did an amazing job of helping us understand everything while acknowledging, honoring, and processing the transformative life change that was occurring for us, for our son, and for his birth parents.In sum, as one might imagine, becoming a parent through adoption carries with it all of the extremes. It is demanding, constantly challenging, and complex, but it has also been indescribably wonderful and meaningful in ways that I cannot begin to put into words. We feel immensely fortunate that we chose American to guide us through this process.

American Adoptions changed our life. Not only do we have 2 BEAUTIFUL children (if I may say so myself) but the experience from beginning to end could not have been more positive. First, their staff is top notch. From the people that helped with our application process – to the social workers that represented us and our birth mother – we felt nothing but support. They were available to us every time we reached out and truly became part of our family during a sometime stressful and overwhelming time. We felt taken care of – and once our children were born, felt our birth mother was supported too. Adopting can be scary – and I felt that our wonderful team was behind us, our children and our birth mother. There is A LOT of paperwork (of course) but the online resources were extremely helpful and our social workers answered questions and always willing to offer advice. If you are considering adoption – look no further – make the call – you won’t regret it!

We had an amazing experience with American Adoptions. Every single person we encountered (Mike, Emily, Laci, Sara, etc.) was incredibly responsive, helpful, organized, and caring. We had our first meeting with Mike in June and left their office feeling very hopeful--a welcome change coming off of multiple failed IVF procedures. We were active by mid-September, received our match call on October 17th, and came home with our perfect baby girl the second week of December. We are SO glad we chose to work with them and will do so again if we decide to adopt in the future!

The staff at American Adoptions are absolute professionals! Every person we worked with there was so responsive, kind, and detail-oriented. Its clear that they have a wonderful climate among the great people who work there, and they helped our dream of adoption come true. We couldnt be more impressed by them!

Let me begin by saying we just completed our second adoption and now have experience working with five different agencies on various parts of the process. American Adoptions was by far the worst decision we made on our adoption journey. From the costs, lack of communication, and misleading information, I deeply regret the money we sunk into trying to work with them. We had an active profile from October 2020 through January 2022 and never once had a potential match. Initially, we set our budget at the average cost of an adoption, per AA. It wasnt until the fourth time we requested feedback from the agency that we were told our budget was now about $10K too low due to inflation. Four times! To make matters more frustrating, we received patronizing updates about a video series AA was developing and passive aggressive emails from their staff. Please learn from the time, money, and effort we wasted working with AA and find any other agency.

We have had the most amazing experience with American adoptions not once but TWICE!!! In 2016 we had the opportunity to work with Sara D. and the American adoption team after being connected with them to do our home study! Sara made the entire process so smooth and everything was flawless from beginning to end !! They set us up with the most amazing social worker again a wonderful experience!! In 2018 we connected with Sara in January, to reach out and start the adoption process again. Much to our surprise we got a call from our birth mom of our son to let us know she was expecting again !! Without any hesitation American adoptions got on the ball to help us get everything moving very quickly six weeks later we were blessed with twins and we couldn’t of gotten through the entire process without Sara and her team again !! Just recently we had the chance to take all the kids into the office to meet everyone and it was such a wonderful experience they also host a picnic each year and it’s a wonderful chance to connect with other adoptive families !! Whenever people ask us who we should refer them to for adoption questions or homestudy needs we will always refer them to American adoptions!!!!

This is a for-profit company that prioritizes profit above all else.My wife and I used American Adoptions to facilitate our adoption placement in Texas because our agency is not licensed there. Throughout the five months we worked with American Adoptions, there were problems every step of the way. These culminated with us having to return the newborn baby to the hospital after the baby had been discharged in our care. We were devastated.In short, American Adoptions:-used predatory financial practices.-routinely ignored our questions.-mishandled our personal data (including SSN, address, DOB, etc.).-changed social workers with no notice or explanation.-did not provide agreed-upon services.-was shockingly unfamiliar with state requirements for adoptions.-regularly provided us with incorrect information.-failed to provide any on-site support at the hospital.American Adoptions provided no social worker at the hospital, as promised. When questioned, we were told the social worker isnt in yet. After 12 hours of repeated questions, we were finally told the social worker was traveling and the entire case was being managed via text message from a thousand miles away! We were then asked to provide updates for American Adoptions and to support the birth mother. Its no wonder our adoption fell through.Their mismanagement is matched only by their incompetent response to their failure. They withheld money for services that were never provided (this is theft), blamed my wife and I for our confusion (this is insulting), and stopped responding to us entirely (this is pathetic).

I gave birth March 2, 2021. I had the pleasure of working with Rachel. She is absolutely Amazing. Anything I needed help with she was there. I was so stressed out. She made the process so relaxing and easy. From picking the adoptive parents , to my hospital stay. She was always there when, I needed her. She made sure my birth plan was followed, even to the smallest detail. I am absolutely in love with my adoptive family. This Agency was nothing but amazing. I will never forget Rachel, she is Heaven sent. Even after the process. They still call and check up on you. If you are a birth mom. And you wanna do open adoption. This is the agency for you. They are loving , Caring and Attentive to your feelings and needs.

We signed up with American Adoption is April 2017. Right from the start they were always so helpful and answered our millions of questions as a family new to the process. Our specialist Melanie took so much time with us and is a saint in our book. She went above and beyond after we had a failed match to make sure we were okay. Our second match worked out and today I’m holding our perfect, absolutely adorable baby boy. He is truly a miracle and we could have never made it without American Adoption by our side. From our first information call to leaving the hospital with our son, they were always there for us 100%. I cant say enough great things about them.

We expanded our family using American Adoptions both in 2011 and 2014. They were supporting and caring individuals who helped us through each step of the process. The counseling they provided both for the birth mothers as well as the adoptive family is amazing. We recommend them to friends who are beginning the adoption process again and again.

American Adoptions truly exceeded our expectations. We felt supported throughout the whole adoption process. The staff is both knowledgeable and friendly. The agency provides education and on going support for both the adoptive families and birth parents. We would recommend A.A time and time again!

We have loved everything about working with American Adoptions. From the moment we called to get information, to the day we finalized and beyond, AA supported us through it all. They were so knowledgable, which was great because we has A LOT of questions. Our little girl is now a year and a half old, and not a day goes by that we arent thankful for AA and their partnership in making us a family.

We used American to adopt our first son. Even though they are more expensive than some agencies at first, over the long run you probably save money because of their failed placement insurance and the quality of their services. We had a wonderful experience and were matched with the best birth parents we could have hoped for. We now have a three week old son and couldnt be happier.

If I could give this review 10 out of 5 stars I would! I cant stress how positive of an experience my husband and I have had with American Adoptions. So many of the positive reviews are spot on with the experience we just had with American Adoptions. The following is a list of the reasons why we loved working with them and will continue to do so if we choose to expand our family:1. Education: AA provides videos to give adoptive families an accurate overview of the process. This was our second time adopting, and we still learned so much from these videos.2. Upfront data: AA provides data to let prospective adoptive families understand wait times, number of adoptions each year, and more. We tracked data independently on our own and our numbers were actually similar to their statistics. They truly make themselves appear how they actually are.3. Caseworkers: Emily was our caseworker in KS, and we also worked with Rachel in TX. Both were easily accessible. We did not have to call a front desk and wait/be placed on hold to talk to them. They replied to texts and emails promptly. They were amazing and our sons birth mother also had positive things to say about Rachel, which was important to us.4. Wait time: We matched within 6 months and were placed within 8 months with AA. This was around the average wait time for their agency. Waiting for the match is the tough part of adoption, and Emily always offered to talk if needed. We waited four years when we went through our first adoption that was NOT through AA. This is obviously a huge difference in wait times. Obviously your preferences and APQ will factor into your wait time. Needless to say, we are pretty happy waiting only 8 months.5. Care: We always felt tended to, and we know AA has many adoptive parents on its plate. The amount of empathy they had truly helped with the wait. We tell people all the time that we always felt like we had a hand holding ours each step of the way. We always felt that their mission was to expand our family and not to take our money.6. Profiles: Each adoptive family must create a print and video profile. They are pretty standard and uniform so prospective birth mothers choose a family based on content and not based on whose profile is more visually appealing. I cant stress enough to do everything you can to be genuine and honest in the profile.7. Budget: Outside of the profile, you set your own budget with AA. They want you to be comfortable with your budget as well as preferences in your APQ. But at the same time, they will let you know how that might factor into your wait times.Adoption is never an easy process and definitely not for the weak at heart. But AA made the process easier, and it could not have been better. They were attentive, helped educate us, gave an accurate representation of themselves, counseled us to set preferences and a budget, and were empathetic.

Our Agency has worked with American Adoptions for several years now. We have always found them to provide not only the highest level of professional services, but consistently demonstrate compassion and integrity with both their birth parents and prospective adoptive parents. From the person who answers the phone, all the way to the Executive Director at American Adoptions, our experiences have always been extremely positive.

I placed my baby for adoption thru American adoptions. My adoption specialist Shannon was absolutely amazing thru it all. She was there for me every step of the way and, almost 3 months later is still there for me. I very much feel that she and the other specialists really care. With American adoptions you truly have people who understand you and your feelings and who really want to help in every way they can. I am very happy I chose them to help me in placing my child.

Im a birthmom.The confidentiality, finance planning, and directional work to make things easier are great.My adoption plan is open, but its not. Its a very limited open adoption which makes me very sad because that was the plan that was recommended to me before I chose a family.Remember you are in control of your adoption plan and request a lawyer to make it legalized so you can fight back if the adopted parents dont follow the plan. I recommend choosing someone in state as well if youre choosing open adoption so youll be able to see your child more often.There is minimal love or care for the birthmom after you sign your papers.American Adoption cares more about the people paying them rather than the parents choosing adoption.

We adopted our daughter through American in 2016 and would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone pursuing domestic infant adoption. They are professional, personable, ethical and most importantly respectful and compassionate to both the adoptive parents and to birthparents.

After looking at many agencies we decided on AA and we are so happy we did! We used them for 2 adoptions and the process could not have gone better both times! The specialist we worked with are so very knowledgeable. They are true professional while also being compassionate and always available to talk. I would give them 10 stars if I could!

Will have to side with all the negative comments here. I’m not the type to complain but in this case I must speak out. Not as timely as they advertise and definitely not professional which we had expected from what appears to be a large nation-wide agency. I would also warn conservative families that they are extremely liberal and will judge you based on your morals and values instead of how well you can parent and provide for children. You can have great backgrounds, physical and mental health, income and home, supportive families and friends with great references and be left waiting for a response. Don’t give them any control over your adoption process - pay more for a quality agency and don’t be pushed to the side for months.

I am a birth mother and I have to say my experience with American adoptions was great. I was working with Brighid and she is wonderful she made sure I understood everything and made sure I was ok during the whole process and even after birth she asked if I was doing ok and if I needed anything. Even tho its a hard decision and its something hard to go thru she made sure I was doing ok and she would encourage me with the wonderful things she would tell me. I really had a positive experience through my adoption process from my adoption agent, to my coordinator, to financial assistance, to placement, to scholarship opportunities. My biggest worry was that they did not care for my needs, my feelings, my emotions during this difficult time. My husband and I used American Adoptions to add our son to our family.We started our home study in November 2016. Completed our profile and video and went active on February 23rd, 2017. On March 13th, 2017, we got a call about a baby born situation and met the birth parents and baby on the evening of the 13th. The birth parents signed TPR on Tuesday March 14th, 2017. Our adoption was finalized on June 14, 2017.American was amazing! Their communication was great! They were very forthcoming with information. They are pricy, but Ive found that they overestimate expenses so they dont have to come back and ask for more money. We actually just got a substantial refund, as they initially charged us for medical expenses including c-section. They were able to sign her up for Medicaid, so we got that back.Pros: 6-12 months for typical match time frame (ours was 17 days), very forthcoming with information, honest about expectations, friendly, helpful, encourage open adoption, provide birth parent counseling, you dont lose any money if a match fails, organized, quickly respond, LGBTQ friendly, everyone has a similar profile to put all waiting families on the same level.Cons: PRICEY! Requires you to do a video and use their affiliated media company. In most states, you have to use a third party for your home study. They will challenge you to go outside of your criteria for your match. Ours was only slightly outside, but we immediately said yes. You submit paragraphs and paragraphs of info and they condense it and remove important bits when putting together your profile, so dont get married to your wording.Would I recommend them: ABSOLUTELY! The cost was worth the quick match. The birth family is amazing and we have a great relationship for our semi-open adoption. We send pictures and updates once or twice a week. The birth family doesnt want visits at this time, but I let them know we were open to visits if they ever changed their minds.If we decide to adopt again, wed use them in a heartbeat.

They made a very hard and stressful process, even more so. I asked for NO PICTURES of baby throughout my entire pregnancy no pictures, no pictures, no updates, no picture period even in writing. 2 weeks later after baby was born and taken home, THE AGENCY SENT ME #$^&ING PICTURES. Didnt get finacial assistance until 3 months before baby was born and a month after. 4 months total out of 9, I receive financial help. If you are a potential birth mom reading this, run away from this agency. Fast!. If you are parents looking to adopt, do your research on this place on how they treat their birth mothers, if you have any respect for the potential woman giving you a baby, go elsewhere, or at least do extensive research on how they treat the birth mothers here. I promise there are more reviewers like mine. I was dumb enough to ignore them. Dont make my mistake.

Im going through a different agency and they found me a family within the first week ! I couldnt be any happier ! And exactly what that other person said with their comment , everyone on here is just happy because they got their baby everyone could care less about the birth mother and the issues she may be enduring!!!
